With the summer here, and school finished, Kilcock Canoe Polo Club is providing a way for teenagers to get fit, have fun, learn something new and meet new people.

The Club is running summer classes for teenagers starting on Thursday 18th June from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. All equipment, including kayaks, paddles, wetsuits and helmets is provided by the club.

Canoe Polo is a fun sport, where two teams of 5 players battle it out with a water polo ball. The aim is to score into a goal, which is suspended above the water at each end of a rectangular ‘playing pitch’. The Club has been based on Kilcock for the last 15 years, recently relocated its training pitches above Shaw’s Bridge in Kilcock. The club has members from all around Kildare. The club also runs courses for younger players as young as 7 on Tuesdays from 6.30pm, and will be offering an adult beginners course from the end of June for 6 weeks.

The cost of the summer course is €80, with a reduced rate of €60 for other children from the same family. The first class is free, so you can come along and try it out to see if you like it.
